Social Responsibility is an Acumen Solutions Core Value—integral to our philosophy, spirit and culture. Since our inception, we have been committed to delivering on this value as both business and community leaders. Acumen Solutions has made an investment in its community and employee-centered efforts by creating a Corporate Care Department, with staff in each geographic office, to create, execute and leverage company resources to enhance the employee experience.

Though we have long been involved in the community, we are making changes to deepen our impact. This requires focus. In an effort to maximize our impact, we are focusing on the organizations where our senior leaders serve on boards as anchors on which to build deeper engagement.

 




Board Leadership Program

We have established a Board Leadership Training program that leverages the talents of our leaders, and empowers them to engage in their communities by serving on boards of local nonprofits. The company supports their commitment with organized training and financial support. Acumen Solutions invests further in the organizations where our employees serve on the boards through multiple efforts to maximize the positive impact on the nonprofit.

Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause™

The Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause™ serves to generate awareness and raise funds for many of our portfolio organizations. The event employs a unique model wherein registrants select the nonprofit they wish to support through their participation. The inaugural Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause™ took place in November 2009 and was a great success that we look forward to building on year after year.

Pro Bono Projects

Acumen Solutions partners with nonprofit organizations to provide business and technology expertise to enhance the organization’s infrastructure. Employees leverage professional skills in the community to solve critical challenges. The Pro Bono projects provide mutual benefits: employees learn about nonprofits and gain professional and personal rewards; and the nonprofits increase their capacity to serve the community.

Employee Service Days

Acumen Solutions employees participate in hands-on volunteer projects to benefit local nonprofit organizations. Over the years, employees have provided assistance to dozens of organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Family Services, Boys & Girls Clubs, Greater DC Cares Serve-a-thon, Ronald McDonald House, Blind in Business and more. Now with multiple geographic locations, the company customizes a service day to best promote the demographic and interest of our employees in that area.

Holiday Giving

Each Acumen Solutions office partners with a local organization to identify a need and rallies their employees to support the cause—ranging from adopting a family for holiday gifts, to participating in book drives for local libraries, to donating food baskets for needy families.

Employee Sponsorships

Acumen Solutions employees committed to community/nonprofit causes can get financial support from the company. Employee Sponsorships of $250 are available on a first-come, first-served basis; 100% of all requests have been granted to date.
