Social Responsibility is one of our Core Values and an integral component of our philosophy, spirit and culture.  Since our inception, we have been committed as both business and community leaders.  We believe that to build a successful company we must contribute back to our community in hopes of making it a successful environment for others.  Our contributions of both time and resources are varied and extensive following the growth and expansion of the company. 

Our employees play an active role in managing and supporting our community efforts.  Their commitments to corporate initiatives, as well as contributions to their personal efforts are valued.  Giving back will always be a vital cornerstone of our business.

Blind in Business (UK)

Thirteen years ago three blind graduates started Blind in Business to make it easier for other blind graduates to get good jobs, through Employment and Training Services. The organisation, based in Moorgate, works to encourage blind and partially sighted young people and graduates to identify and achieve their ambitions and helps them into careers.

Acumen Solutions began supporting Blind in Business in March 2006 with a kick-off event for visually impaired graduates interested in careers in IT. A selection of Acumen Solutions employees covered several topics during a half day workshop: the variety of roles within the IT business, training available, CV writing, interview techniques, project management and business development skills. We ran a question and answer session at the end of the workshop and were able to provide a safe and intelligent environment for discussion.

VIP Program

Acumen UK has sponsored PROJECT VIP for Blind in Business for a number of years. This is an event designed specifically to meet the needs of visually impaired female graduates (VIPs), to ensure that they look and feel confident when attending their job interviews. The VIPs were given one to one practical advice and make-overs in hair and beauty by top stylists and beauticians with advice ranging from professional wear and body language skills to mock interviews. London 10K Event

Six employees of Acumen Solutions UK ran in the British London 10K race for charities of their personal choice. We raised nearly £3,000 from friends, colleagues and family, for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust, Cancer Research and the RNLI.

Culloden Primary School

Culloden School is located on the Aberfeldy Estate in Tower Hamlets – one of London’s most deprived boroughs. The school is made up of around 400 children of whom 96% are from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Acumen Solutions UK employees made a Holiday Season donation to Culloden Primary School outfitting the school football team who did not have any matching football kit for their upcoming inter-school football tournament.

The Acumen Solutions donation was sufficient to supply the team with a full kit as well as some extra footballs for the training sessions.

We are continuing our Giving Back Programme with the school and will be working in conjunction with the school’s new IT Manager to offer guidance and support to design and implement a simple and transparent network for the school.
