Business Challenge

An established telecommunications giant created a new entity to launch an emerging wireless broadband technology in the U.S. while preparing to merge with another entity. There was a significant risk inherent in this consumer untested technology, in addition to the challenges of defining a new marketplace with the product. The client had to quickly unify disparate organizations to meet deadlines, interdependencies and ultimately to ensure a successful market launch.

In anticipation of potential launch risks, technical issues and business challenges, a Command Center was established to orchestrate and oversee the launch. The main objective of this PMO organization was to mitigate launch risks, identify and manage technical and business issues, and facilitate open communication between functional groups in order to ensure smooth market along with product and service launches. The Command Center became the central point of communication to management and executive teams regarding program status, project plan status, and critical issue resolution.

Acumen Solutions leveraged its well defined PMO methodology to define and establish a Command Center to manage this mission critical engagement. The Command Center served as the central point of contact to coordinate, monitor, and facilitate activities associated with the launch and post-launch activities. The team served as an integral part of the issue management phase of the project, and was responsible for notifying key stakeholders of high priority issues and facilitating the resolution of these issues. The team prepared and delivered upstream communication of program health and progress of launch events.
