Comparing Dreamforce to just a few years ago I am struck by the number of sessions and resources available for IT managers and executives. I am sitting here in the "Security in the Cloud" session presented by Jim Cavalieri. Jim has helped Acumen (on at least one occasion I know of) get customers up to speed on the depth and breadth of Force.com security features, so I thought it made sense to see what the session was like.
Jim is walking attendees (self described IT folks) through the Force.com portfolio of security features, hardened infrastructure, certification and best practices. This is the stuff that CxOs typically need to understand, not too different from what they present to the board of directors, auditors and their peers. It looks like Salesforce.com has been listening intently to corporate clients who have been asking for this kind of information and looking carefully at salesforce.com's track record.
(A few hours later) Personally, as a former IT executive and proponent of SaaS empowerment, I am a big fan of the IT Executives track and I hope it remains a staple of Dreamforce. The ability to do one stop shopping for information, network with peers and vendors and get face time with the people (like Jim) who provide the services is huge. It would be really helpful to have some deep dive Q & A sessions too - let's hope this track continues to mature and grow.
